Learning how to play the bugle, Military Style

For those of you who don't know who Harry James might be, he's actually one of the greatest trumpet players of all time.

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy

The Andrew sisters seen here were about as popular as you can get back in their days.  While you really can't play this on a's a great song to play especially with an arrangement featuring multiple trumpets.

This is from the movie "From Here to Eternity"

The fellow playing the bugle (Montgomery Clift) in the movie is NOT the troop bugler being demoted because he didn't want to be a boxer (it's a strange movie). This is a tribute to his friend (Frank Sinatra) who was killed by a brutal prison guard. This is just a great scene and a tribute to the power of music and TAPS.  By the way, you'll also see the original  SUPERMAN in this scene.

Screaming Taps

Tribute to Maynard Ferguson

How do you pay tribute to one of the greatest trumpet legends of all times, Maynard Ferguson?  Here's a turbocharged version of Taps played at Maynard's funeral in 2006.
